Karun Nair shattered world record: On one hand, Team India is struggling in Australia, on the other hand, the players who are out of the team are trying to impress the selectors for the Champions Trophy (Champions Trophy 2025), while some are keeping the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) in mind this year. Keeping this in mind, he is busy giving more confidence to his bat. And one of them is Ayatit from Vidarbha and Karun Nair from Karnataka. Nair has broken the world record in the national one-day tournament Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 being played in different parts of the country. Nair shattered the world record by scoring his third century in the match played against Uttar Pradesh in Visakhapatnam. Nair scored 112 runs in 101 balls. With his innings, Vidarbha easily defeated UP by 8 wickets.
Chasing the target of 308 runs, Nair completed his third century in the last four innings off 100 balls. Apart from him, the other opener Yash Rathore also scored a century. However, with this century, Karun Nair broke the world record and achieved a feat which no Indian batsman had previously been able to do in List “A” (ODI and domestic ODI). Apart from him, Mayank Agarwal and Prabhasimran Singh are in the ongoing season. Has also scored three centuries, but Nair’s third century has made him very-very special.
Nair’s unbeaten world record
With this century, this was Nair’s fifth consecutive innings in the previous matches, in which he was out for the first time. 33 year old Nair started his century campaign by scoring 112 runs against J&D. After this, he scored unbeaten 44 runs against Chhattisgarh, and in the next two matches, he played unbeaten innings of 163* and 111* runs against Chandigarh and Tamil Nadu respectively. And as soon as Nair crossed his personal total of 70 against UP on Friday, he became the first Indian batsman to score 500 runs in List “A” (ODI and domestic ODI) without being out in a single innings.

After this, he left behind the record of New Zealand’s James Franklin (527) of 2010. With this, Karun Nair has become the batsman who has scored the most runs by getting out once in List “A”. In the end, Nair was out after scoring 112 runs, but with his innings, Vidarbha easily won the match. Now Karun has the same number of runs in 5 innings at an average of 542. And from here also, Karun can further raise the level of this record by remaining not out in the next innings.
