Great batsman Sachin Tendulkar on Friday termed the achievement of Karun Nair, who scored a flurry of runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, as ‘no less than extraordinary’ and said that he expected the Vidarbha captain to ‘continue’ this streak. Nair has been performing brilliantly in this top domestic 50-over competition for India. He has scored 752 runs in seven innings with five centuries and one half-century. During this period his average has also been 752 runs.
Tagging Nair, Tendulkar wrote on ‘X’, “Making 752 runs with five centuries in seven innings is nothing less than extraordinary.” He wrote, “Performances like this don’t just happen. Such performances come with extreme focus and hard work. Stay strong and take advantage of every opportunity.”
Scoring 752 runs in 7 innings with 5 centuries is nothing short of extraordinary, @karun126Performances like these don’t just happen, they come from immense focus and hard work. Keep going strong and make every opportunity count!

Tendulkar praised Nair’s performance at a time when the Ajit Agarkar-led national selection committee is scheduled to meet in Mumbai to choose the Indian team for the Champions Trophy and ODI series against England.
Due to Nair’s brilliant performance, Vidarbha team has reached the final of the tournament, where it will face Karnataka on Saturday. Nair is only the second batsman for the Indian team after Virender Sehwag to score a triple century in Tests.
In the semi-final against Maharashtra on Thursday, Nair scored a quickfire 88* off 44 balls with the help of nine fours and five sixes to take Vidarbha to the match-winning score of 380 runs. Maharashtra could only score 311/7.
Nair is on the verge of breaking an all-time record in the tournament. If he scores another 79 runs in the tournament, he will surpass Tamil Nadu batsman Narayan Jagadeesan’s tally of 830 runs (best score of 277, in eight matches, with an average of 138.33, a strike rate of over 125 and five centuries). Will go.
This strong performance in the tournament has earned Nair praise from the cricket world and fans alike, with many demanding that he be given another chance in the Indian team. Nair, who last played for India in March 2017, is the only Test triple centurion for India after great opener Virender Sehwag.
In six Test matches for India since his debut in 2016, he scored 374 runs in seven innings at an average of 62.33, with his best score of 303*. Nair also played two ODI matches for India, in which he scored 46 runs with a best score of 39.
