It is alleged that the employees were tied like dogs with chains and forced to walk on their knees and lick coins on the floor. The State Labor Department has ordered an inquiry into such alleged inhuman harassment at the workplace after showing views on local television channels.

After the matter came to light, State Labor Minister V. Shivnakutty has ordered an inquiry into the incident. Also, the District Labor Officer has been instructed to submit an immediate report on this incident.

Such punishment is given if the target is not achieved

In a broadcast video, a person is allegedly shown to force an employee to crawl on the floor by wearing a dog like a dog. Later some employees told a TV channel that those who fail to achieve the target are given such punishment by the management of the company.

According to the police, the incident is allegedly associated with a private marketing firm working in Kalur and the crime was allegedly in nearby Perumbavur.

Police said that they have not received any complaint and the owner of the company denied the allegations.

An official said, “No case has been registered yet and investigation is on.”

This is not acceptable at any cost: Labor Minister

Labor Minister Shivnakutty described these scenes as “shocking and disturbing” and said that in a state like Kerala it cannot be accepted at any cost.

He told the media, “I have ordered an inquiry into the incident and directed the District Labor Officer to submit the report in connection with the incident after investigation.”

Later, the State Human Rights Commission registered a case on the incident on the basis of the complaint filed by the High Court lawyer Kulthur Jaisingh.

Meanwhile, the Kerala State Youth Commission also intervened and registered a case at its level in the incident of alleged harassment. The Commission has directed the District Police Chief to submit a report in this regard.
