Last month, a case has been registered against six students and two teachers of a government higher secondary school in Kochi in connection with the alleged incident of throwing itching powder on a student. The police gave this information on Sunday. A policeman at the Infopark police station said that on Saturday, a case was registered on the basis of the complaint of the girl, who has alleged that itching powder was thrown at her in the first week of February.
Police said that the teachers have been charged with related provisions of the Indian Justice Code while the students have been charged under the Juvenile Justice Act. The incident came to light when the girl and her mother talked about this on a TV channel.
Recalling the incident, the girl told that she was sitting on the desk after the examination, when some students allegedly started throwing itching powder, some of which fell on her. She told that she went to the toilet to wash her, but the powder went to her private organs, which caused him a lot of trouble.
The student could not prepare for the exam in a manner
The girl claimed that her condition worsened in the next days and due to the medicine she was taking, she was not able to go to school and could not even prepare her upcoming SSLC (tenth) examinations properly. Her mother also told her daughter’s pain and alleged that the school initially refused to allow her to appear in the SSLC examination due to insufficient presence.
Accused of not helping teachers in time
However, after the intervention of the General Education Department, the school has allegedly allowed the girl to take the exam. The girl’s mother had demanded action against the students involved in the incident and allegedly failed teachers in providing assistance in time. Police said that she is working with great care in the case because the students’ examinations are going on.
