‘Stand-up comedian’ Kunal Kamra wrote an open letter to ‘Bookmindo’ on Monday requesting the online ticketing platform that either they should not be removed from the list of artists or handed over the contact information of the audience who have been joining for their single presentation for years. Kamra has shared this letter on her ‘X’ page. This letter came at a time when the Shiv Sena claimed that Bookmayasho has removed the artist from the stage and the list of artists from the stage amidst controversy over his (Kamra’s) ‘traitor’ comment against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Kamra said in his two -page letter, “Dear bookmasho, I think you need to maintain a cordial relationship with the government, and I know that Mumbai is a major center for lively entertainment. Without the cooperation of the government, big shows like Coldplay and Guns N ‘Roses will not be possible ….’
He said, “I request: Do not remove me from the list, or give me the data (contact information) that I have gathered from my audience through your platform.”
Born in Mumbai and now a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu, Kamra, on April 5, asked the bookmayasho whether the news of the removal of him from the stage was true.
He wrote on ‘X’ “Bookmodyno, can you please confirm that the facility to list my show is on your platform, if not, there is nothing. I understand this …. ”
On Monday, Kamra, while addressing her audience, called for a boycott of the stage on the news of being removed from the list as an artist. Kamra said that he is not a “boycott or a fan of giving a low rating to any private business.”
He said in the letter, “Bookmothy has the full right to take the best steps for his business.” However, the issue is not whether you can remove me from the list or not-it is about your special right to list our show. By not allowing artists to list your shows through their website, you have effectively stopped me from reaching the audience for which I performed from 2017 to 2025. ‘
According to Kamra, the bookmayasho makes a 10 percent deduction as a fee to list the program. He said, “However, it raises an important point: no matter how big or small, we are forced to spend Rs 6,000 to 10,000 per day on advertising to reach our audience. This expense is an additional burden that we have to bear as artists. ”
Kamra said that one can argue that data protection is a matter of concern, but “who protects which data and whom does it, this question is far wide.”
Kamra said, “The request I am making is simple: Please make sure that you hand over the contact information of my single show to me so that I can live my life with respect and run my livelihood.”
Kamra’s letter came at a time when he has approached the Bombay High Court requesting the cancellation of the FIR lodged by the Mumbai Police for alleged derogatory remarks against Shinde. At the same time, the Madras High Court has extended Kamra’s interim anticipatory bail period till 17 April for remarks about Shinde.
Kamra also claimed that after the show she was receiving threats to kill her, so she has requested the police to interrogate him through a video conference.
Some social media users have expressed support for Kamra and said that if they are removed as an artist on the stage, they will delete the bookmayasho app.
His comments about Kamra Shinde have been engulfed in a major political dispute in Maharashtra. He made controversial remarks during a stand up show called ‘Naya Bharat’ last month, after which Shiv Sena workers vandalized the venue, hotel and lodged several objections against him.
