The Lucknow court has imposed a fine of Rs 200 in the case of statement made against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Veer Savarkar. This decision has been pronounced by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) court on disappearance of continuous appearance. The court has directed Rahul Gandhi to appear in the court on 14 April 2025, otherwise strict legal action may be taken against him.
The hearing is going on in the case of the statement made against Rahul Gandhi on Veer Savarkar. The court had directed Rahul Gandhi to appear, but he did not appear in the court.
During the hearing, lawyer Pranshu Aggarwal appeared on behalf of Rahul Gandhi. He filed an application for exemption from appearance in court. In this, he said that Rahul Gandhi is currently the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. He had an important meeting in Delhi. Apart from this, he had to go to some more programs. Due to which they could not appear in court. They respect the court orders and are not trying to avoid deliberately.
Rahul Gandhi gave a controversial statement on Veer Savarkar at a press conference in Akola. He called Savarkar a ‘servant of British’ and ‘pensioner’. Nripendra Pandey reached the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court against this statement of Rahul Gandhi. Pandey has demanded to register a case under sections 153 (A) and 505 of the Indian Penal Code regarding Rahul’s statement.
