The devotees coming to take a dip of reverence in next year’s Mahakumbh in Prayagraj are likely to reach Ayodhya to have darshan of Ramlala. According to Ayodhya Municipal Corporation, about 2.5 crore devotees are likely to come to the city between January 13 and February 12. Municipal Corporation officials also expect around three to five lakh devotees to arrive in Ayodhya on New Year’s Day.
Ayodhya Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi told PTI on Sunday, “We hope that about 10 percent of the devotees coming to Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj will come to Ayodhya for the darshan of Lord Ram.”
He said, “Since 25 crore people are expected to come to Mahakumbh, we believe that 2.5 to 3 crore devotees will come to Ayodhya in the period from Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025) to Maghi Purnima (February 12). ”
Tripathi said that at present one and a half to two lakh people are coming to Ayodhya every day. He said that on New Year’s Day (January 1), three to five lakh people will come to the city. The Mayor said that all arrangements have been made to handle the crowd of devotees.
When asked about the steps taken in view of the cold weather conditions in the area, Tripathi said that a proposal to set up a tent city (in Ayodhya) with the capacity to accommodate five thousand people has been sent to the Tourism Department.
He said, “Night shelters have been made at many places and bonfires have been arranged. Therefore, we hope that we will be able to face the challenges of cold weather.
Mahakumbh-2025 will be held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh from 13 January to 26 February. Explaining in detail about Mahakumbh, Ashutosh Varshney, coordinator of ‘Ram Naam Bank’ of Prayagraj, said that bathing is the most important ritual in the Mahakumbh fair. He said that at the Triveni Sangam (confluence of rivers), lakhs of pilgrims come together to participate in this sacred practice.
Varshney told PTI that apart from the bathing ritual, pilgrims also perform puja on the banks of Ganga. “If any devotee gets an opportunity to have darshan of Lord Ram in Ayodhya after taking a dip in the Ganga during the Maha Kumbh period, it will definitely be an additional divine moment for him,” he said.
