The special cell of Delhi Police has got a big success. The police have arrested two accused while busting an inter -state drug syndicate. At the same time, 45.6 kg of excellent quality opium has been recovered from his possession, the price in the international market has been estimated to be more than Rs 2 crore. The arrested accused have been identified as Surjit Singh alias Vicky and Pargan Singh, who are residents of Amritsar, Punjab.

According to the information, this syndicate was active in Manipur, Assam, Punjab and Delhi-NCR. High-quality opium from Manipur used to smuggle opium and supplied it in Delhi and Punjab. After about 4–5 months hard work, surveillance and intelligence information, the police got a strong input that Surjit Singh and Pargan Singh, residents of Amritsar, who work for Sonu, a smuggler in Jorhat, Assam, are coming for delivery of opium in Rohini Sector-37 area.

On the basis of this information, a team laid a trap on the spot and both the accused were caught coming in a Grand i10 car. In the search, 45.6 kg of opium was recovered from a secret basement under the back seat of the car. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they work for a person named Sonu. He was the wholesaler of betel nut earlier, but due to losses, now it supplies opium from Manipur-India border and supplies in Delhi and Amritsar.
Surjeet and Pargan were given Rs 50,000 per trip. Secret chambers were made in the car to hide opium. Surjit Singh alias Vicky: Amritsar resident, has studied till 10th. Earlier used to work as a carpenter. Later, at the behest of Sonu, he went to Assam and joined the drug supply business.
Pargan Singh, resident of Amritsar, has studied till 8th. Surjeet has a cousin and earlier both used to work as a carpenter together. Later, at the behest of Sonu, he joined opium supply.

- 2 mobile phones used in drug smuggling
At present, further investigation is going on by registering a case against the accused under the related sections of NDPS Act.
