The 35-year-old batsman has announced his retirement in an emotional post on the social media site Facebook. The special thing is that Tamim has not announced retirement for the first time. He has announced his retirement earlier also. But during that time he withdrew his decision.

Announcing his retirement, Tamim Iqbal wrote on Facebook, ‘I have not played an international match for a long time and this gap is not going to reduce in the future. My story in international cricket is over. I was thinking about this for a long time. Regarding the Champions Trophy, I don’t want the team’s attention to be distracted because of me. This is the reason why I have withdrawn from the national contract for a long time. Any player who has not been under BCB contract for a long time. His selection in the Champions Trophy does not make much sense. All players have the right to decide their future. According to me, my time has come.

International cricket career of Tamim Iqbal

Talking about Tamim Iqbal’s international cricket career, he managed to play 70 Tests, 243 ODIs and 78 T20 International matches for Bangladesh. During this period, he scored 5134 runs in 134 Test innings at an average of 38.89, 8357 runs in 240 ODI innings at an average of 36.65 and 1758 runs in 78 T20 innings at an average of 24.08. Tamim Iqbal has one double century, 10 centuries and 31 half-centuries in his name in Tests. Apart from this, he has scored 14 centuries and 56 half-centuries in ODI and one century and seven half-centuries in T20.
