Nagpur violence: Curfew was removed or relaxed in 10 out of 11 police station areas


After the violence in Nagpur city of Maharashtra on March 17, the curfew in 10 out of 11 police station areas has either been removed or relaxed. The official said that Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singhal initially lifted the sanctions in Nandanvan and Kapilnagar, but this evening he ordered the removal of curfew from Sakkardara and Imamwara under Panchpavali, Shantinagar and Lakdganj and Zone 4 under Zone 3.

He informed that however, curfew will continue in Kotwali, Tehsil and Ganeshpeth police station areas under Zone 3 and people will be relaxed in curfew for necessary purchases from 7 pm to 10 pm.

The official said that action will be taken against those who violate curfew rules under Section 223 of the Indian Justice Code (disregard of the orders of the public servant).
