Nikhil Kumar becomes executive editor of TIME magazine


American magazine TIME has appointed Nikhil Kumar as its new executive editor. Nikhil Kumar will oversee the AI, climate and health teams. We will also work with reporters and editors to expand coverage in these key areas.

TIME magazine has issued a statement saying that Nikhil’s job is to ensure high-quality, globally relevant journalism on important topics like AI, climate and health. He will lead the editorial team and promote collaboration between various departments.

Recently, Nikhil was the Deputy Global Editor at ‘The Messenger’ and before that was at Grid. He was previously CNN’s bureau chief in New Delhi, overseeing the network’s coverage of India and the wider region. He also did on-air reporting for major stories. Before that, he was TIME’s South Asia bureau chief and, before that, a senior editor working on international coverage. He has also worked as an editor and foreign correspondent for the Independent and the Evening Standard.
