New Delhi:
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued a new order to the OTT platforms running in India. Amid growing political tension with Pakistan, the government has asked all streamers to stop broadcasting Pakistani content. The official advice issued by the government states: “In the interest of national security, all OTT platforms, media streaming platforms and middlemen operated in India are advised to close web-series, movies, songs, podcasts and other streaming media content with immediate effect, whether they are available on subscription-based models, whether they are available in Pakistan.
This means that all the web content, show, music etc. coming from Pakistan will be removed on every OTT platform of the country including Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, Geosinem and others.
Because of this decision taken
The decision came a day after Operation Sindoor of the Indian Army, in which the barbaric terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir was avenged on April 22, killing 26 people, most of which were tourists. Under Operation Sindoor, which lasted from 1.04 pm to 1.30 pm, the Indian armed forces attacked nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Wednesday morning.
The hostility that started again between India and Pakistan has already affected the financial markets. There has been a sharp decline in non-delivery forward on the Indian rupee. According to Pakistan International Airlines Corporation, after the Indian attacks, Pakistan has taken precautionary measures and closed its airspace.
