Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport, operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), said on Tuesday that there has been a double digit increase in the number of passengers at the airport in the third quarter of the financial year 24-25. More than 35 lakh passengers have flown from the airport in the October-December period of the current financial year. This figure was 30 lakh in the last financial year, which shows an increase of 18 percent on an annual basis.
SVPI Airport, also known as Ahmedabad International Airport, has also seen a 15 percent increase in Aircraft Traffic Movements (ATM). There were more than 27,000 ATMs at SVPI Airport in the October to December quarter.
SVPI Airport, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, said that December 22 was the busiest day so far during the current financial year. During this period, 44,253 passengers came to the airport and aircraft traffic movements were 324. After this, on December 13, 43,881 passengers arrived at the airport and the number of aircraft traffic movements was 325.
SVPIA has won the prestigious Certificate of Merit at the ‘National Energy Conservation Awards 2024’ (NECA 2024), making it the only airport in India to receive this prestigious award.
SVPI Airport further said that cargo volume witnessed a growth of 17 percent in the third quarter as compared to the same period of the previous financial year.
SVPI Airport has handled more than 17,900 metric tons (MT) of cargo, including more than 1,850 MT of international cargo.
