On the occasion of Republic Day, veteran actress Saira Banu remembered her late husband-superstar Dilip Kumar and shared his unforgettable scene from the film ‘Leader’. He said that the unity of the country lies in diversity. The actress, who often shares posts on social media, shared several black-and-white pictures of Dilip Kumar and throwback clips of him from his popular films on her Instagram handle. Along with the post, he also wrote an emotional note, in which he said that the late actor was a firm believer in fulfilling his rights and duties and he always kept the right to equality above all.
Saira Banu wrote, “I have always believed that the strength of a nation lies in its diversity, but it is balanced by only one thing and that is equality. This is not only my belief, but it was close to the heart of my ‘Sahib’. He often said that in India the huge gap between us in language, culture and beliefs can be bridged. The real essence of a nation is to treat everyone equally despite huge differences. “This was the cornerstone of his life and work and is a principle I will always cherish.”
The actress wrote, “‘Sahib’ was a firm believer in fulfilling one’s rights and duties, always keeping the right to equality supreme. He believed that equality is not just a constitutional right, it is a moral duty that we all owe to each other as human beings.”
