Islamabad:
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khwaja Asif said on Friday that the government is establishing daily diplomatic contacts with various countries including Iran, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, China and Qatar as part of efforts to reduce tension in the region. According to the ‘Express Tribune’ newspaper report, Asif also claimed that the recent drone attacks by India were carried out for reconnaissance objectives instead of retaliation.
He claimed that it was allowed to enter the ‘safe border’ before stopping Indian drones and neutralizing them to avoid endangering sensitive places.
Information Minister Atta Tarar claimed that at least 29 drones were stopped from Wednesday to Thursday evening, while 48 additional drones were killed on Thursday night and till Friday. However, India said on Friday that Pakistan sent 300-400 drones at 36 places from Leh to Sir Creek to target Indian military establishments last night and the Indian Army killed the drone.
The military conflict between the two countries has increased after India started Operation Sindoor on Wednesday in response to the Pahalgam attack of twenty -two April. Asif said that the government is engaged in daily diplomatic contact with various countries including Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, China and Qatar as part of efforts to reduce the situation.
His comment came at a time when Saudi Arabia Minister of State for External Affairs Adel Al-Jubair arrived in Islamabad after a visit to New Delhi. Zubair later visited the Ministry of External Affairs, where Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar welcomed him. Government radio Pakistan gave this information.
According to the report of Geo News, Saudi Minister is expected to meet Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir. After the Pahalgam terror attack, India announced several punitive measures against Pakistan, including suspending the Indus Water Treaty, closing the Attari-Wagah Border Outpost and reducing diplomatic relations after the terrorist attack.
