Details of Pakistan Train Hijack
The fighters of the separatist organization Balochistan Liberation Army in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Tuesday attacked a strong attack and abducted a passenger train going from Quetta to Peshawar. Very few pictures of this incident in a remote area of Pakistan have been revealed so far. In fact, on Tuesday morning, the train Jafar Express along with 500 passengers was passing through Gudalar and Piru Konari, a far -flung area of Balochistan. There are 17 tunnels in this area. When the train was passing through the tunnel number 8, the BLA fighters blew the track and derailed the train. After this, the train was attacked. Soon after the attack, BLA fighters boarded the train and injured the driver of the train.
According to the information, the BLA has claimed that the train is under the control of its fidayeen unit Majid Brigade and has killed 20 security personnel in the train and took 182 people hostage. Women, elderly, children and Baloch people have been safely released. To deal with the situation, the Pakistani army has surrounded the area and their clash with BLA fighters continues. However, due to the night, the task of getting the hostage has become difficult.
Pakistan’s Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi criticized the attack and said that the government will not make any concession with those who attack innocent passengers. On the other hand, Giand Baloch, a BLA spokesperson, has said that if the Pakistan Army makes any misdeeds, the hostages will be killed because its suicide is ready to give martyrdom. It has also been revealed that the BLA has demanded that many Baloch leaders be released from jail. Pakistan’s senior journalist Arju Kajmi told what is the reason behind such attacks.
Why did Balochistan Liberation Army hijack Jafar Express
When Pakistan became independent, it was divided into four provinces. Punjab province which has always been the most powerful province in Pakistan’s politics, whose capital is Lahore. Apart from this, Sindh whose capital is Karachi, the third province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who was earlier called the North West Frontier Province and whose capital is Peshawar and the fourth is the fourth state, Balochistan whose capital is Quetta.
- Balochistan is the largest province in Pakistan, where the Baloch community lives.
- 44 percent of Pakistan’s entire area is in Balochistan alone.
- But only six percent of the population of Pakistan lives in such a large area.
- Balochistan is an area rich in natural resources and this is the biggest reason for its trouble.
- The 1100 km border of Balochistan is bordering the sea. Which is very important in terms of marine resources and business.
Pakistan has developed one such beach as a Gwadar port with the cooperation of China. By the way, Baloch people claim that they live in Balochistan since 1200 years BC. Those who speak three main languages today, Baluchi, Brahm and Saraiki. In today’s era, Baloch is a Sunni Muslim community which lives through Iran and Pakistan border. Apart from this, Baloch people also live in a lot of numbers in southern Afghanistan. The Pakistan region is called Balochistan and Iran’s region called Sistan-Balochistan. They have been facing violent repression on both sides of the border. The difficulty of Baloch people in Iran is that they are Sunni minority in a Shia dominated country. The population of Baloch people in Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan is about 90 lakhs, which is scattered in the large area. Baloch people divided into many tribes still feel their nationality even today and their displeasure with Pakistan, who is busy in suppressing it, is old.
In fact, when Pakistan became independent, many princely states merged into it and he started mixing many with pressure. Apart from this, some were also forcibly captured. One of these was the princely state of Kalat. Ahmed Yar Khan, the ruler of Kalat, had announced the independence of his princely state on August 12, 1947 before the independence of Pakistan, but Pakistan forcibly merged Kalat on 27 March 1948, using strength after its formation and formed the Baluchistan province in 1948, including three other princely states.
Baloch nationalists have been opposing this merger since then and say that Baloch people did not meet in Pakistan on their own free will. Angered by Pakistan’s occupation, Baloch people started rebellion, which Pakistan continued to suppress with its military strength. The rebellion of 1958, 1973, 2005 was such a big rebellion. Baloch people allege that Pakistan has forcibly captured the natural resources of Balochistan and in return, Baloch people are not getting anything. Because of this Balochistan is one of the poorest areas of Pakistan. Apart from this, the Government of Pakistan has been accused of being denied the people of Balochistan with their fundamental rights.
For all these reasons, many Baloch organizations are organizing peaceful agitations among those who opposed Pakistan, while many are organizing armed agitations. Such armed organizations have been attacking Pakistan’s soldiers and civilians. The latest attack is a link to that.
In the last twenty -five years, one of these armed organizations has been the most in the headlines and has been causing the most damage to Pakistan, that is Balochistan Liberation Army i.e. BLA. The BLA comes out of armed fighters who have the support of Marri, Bugti, Mangal and other Baloch tribes and their chieftains of Balochistan. Many experts say that the Baloch movement is also influenced by the then Soviet Union and its Marxist ideology. Even many leaders of the Baloch movement have been trained in Russia. The BLA is also working with the same revolutionary spirit. More than six thousand BLA fighters are spread over the Balochistan province and the marginal areas adjoining Afghanistan.
Although the BLA has the support of many Baloch leaders, but the leaders of Baloch tribes do not reveal their relations with the BLA. Especially since 2006, when Pakistan banned BLA. Despite this, in the last few years, the BLA has created its own good network in rural and town areas of Balochistan. Out of the grip of traditional tribal chieftains, the BLA has made a different grip on Baloch people. The special thing is that BLA is opposed to traditional chieftains or tribal system. BLA fighters claim that they are fighting Pakistan for internal reforms in Balochistan’s independence and Baloch society. BLA is more popular among young and educated Baloch people due to non -traditional stance. According to experts, the BLA has not only weakened Pakistan’s hold on Balochistan, but has also weakened the grip of traditional tribal chieftains on Baloch society.
Who is in the hands of BLA is not clear. As part of a strategy, the BLA is divided by the local commanders of different areas. In 2018, a revolutionary leader of BLA, named Aslam Baloch, was killed with some of his companions in a suicide bomb blast in Kandahar. Since the killing of Aslam Baloch in this operation of the Pakistan Army, the BLA has maintained silent silence over its leadership and many of its local commanders are carrying forward the movement together. Most of the big celebrities of Balochistan’s movement either live outside Pakistan or live somewhere in Balochistan in a confidential manner.
Apart from BLA, another armed organization fighting for the independence of Balochistan is Balochistan Liberation Front i.e. BLF which was formed by Jumma Khan in 1964. BLF used to be very popular among the people of Balochistan at one time but in the latter, many BLF fighters joined the BLA. Apart from this, there are two more organizations – Free Balochistan Movement and Baloch Republican Party which are led by Mary and Bugti families. Pakistan’s army has also committed heavy torture on Mari and Bugti tribes, but these organizations do not revolt armed against Pakistan.
As we said that Baloch is a different nationality people and they allege that Pakistan is exploiting their natural resources and in return Baloch is violating their fundamental rights instead of giving them their rights. There have been frequent protests in Balochistan against this. Not only this, thousands of Baloch people have also gone missing in the last several years. According to a report by Amnesty International, more than 10 thousand Baloch people have gone missing since 2011. Baloch people believe that they are either in captivity of Pakistan’s security forces or have been killed.
Meanwhile, armed BLA has been continuously targeting Pakistan’s military and civilian bases. In response to this, the general public of Balochistan also suffers in the action of Pakistan’s security forces, it also has to face the injustice of Pak security forces. Last year, on August 26, the BLA carried out the biggest attack till date. In the southwest Balochistan, the BLA carried out several attacks and claimed that 102 Pakistani soldiers were killed by his Majeed Brigade. In these attacks, many camps of Pakistani Army, many police stations, railway lines and highways were targeted. The BLA described it as Operation Herooff i.e. Black Storm.
The BLA carried out these attacks on the 18th anniversary of the death of Baloch Nationalist leader Nawab Akbar Bugti. Nawab Akbar Bugti was a leader seeking autonomy for Balochistan and was very popular in Balochistan. The Government of Pakistan alleged that they led the guerrilla war against the country. On August 26, 2006, about 25 km from Quetta, he was murdered in a Pakistani army attack on August 26, 2006 during the Musharraf government in Pakistan, which led to a renewed resentment against Pakistan in the entire Balochistan.
- In November 2018, BLA fighters attacked the Consulate of China in Karachi, killing four people. Was.
- In 2019, a luxury hotel called Pearl Continental in Balochistan’s port city of Gwadar attacked BLA fighters in which five people were killed. According to the BLA, there were Chinese officers living inside the hotel on his target.
- In January 2024 too, 15 people were killed in a BLA suicide attack in two buildings in Balochistan. These included nine terrorists including three suicide terrorists.
- In view of the violent attitude of the BLA, on 2 July 2019, the US declared the Baloch Liberation Army a terrorist organization. The US State Department then said that the BLA is an armed separatist organization which mainly targets security forces and citizens in Baloch areas of Pakistan. However, the BLA had then opposed this and said that it is a generous, secular and armed security organization. On the other hand, the European Union has also declared the BLA a terrorist organization.
- According to Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM), the Baloch Liberation Army is a secular rebel organization that does not talk about jihad. The BLA includes many students, writers, workers and even football players who have carried out suicide attacks on many important bases in Pakistan as they are disappointed with Pakistan.
- Among them, Operation Herooff Operation was the biggest operation. After this, it is clear from the attack and kidnapping on a train today that the BLA is now executing the attacks in a more planned manner.
- According to a report by Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies, the BLA was not the BLA that was four-five years ago. He is now carrying out a strategic attack. The BLA has learned this strategy from Tehreek Taliban Pakistan. However, there is no basis of one ideology between the two organizations.
- Meanwhile, many experts say that Pakistan may have to lose Balochistan, which is struggling with many crises.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has been accusing foreign intelligence agencies and India of promoting separatism in Balochistan, but India has made it clear that it has nothing to do with this case and Pakistan is suffering the brunt of injustice in Balochistan.
