In his budget speech yesterday, the Finance Minister announced big offers for Bihar. Elections are to be held in Bihar later this year. The Finance Minister has announced the establishment of a board to support the production of Makhana in North Bihar. He also said that Greenfield Airports will be developed in the state. The budget also announced financial assistance for the Western Kosi Canal Project in Mithilanchal, which aims to promote irrigation. Along with this, IIT also announced the expansion of Patna and the plan to establish the National Institute of Food Technology in Bihar.
Abraham quoted Lincoln
On the allegation of the opposition that this budget has been prepared keeping in mind the Bihar and Delhi elections, Sitharaman said that this is a budget for the people. He then quoted the famous Frage of former US President Abraham Lincoln and said that it is “by people, by people, for people” budget. Specific changes in this budget are based on the voice of the people. Opposition parties always feel that the budget is for elections. I disagree with this. Are there elections in Assam too? Sitharaman said that Bihar is a densely populated and has gone here, Bodh Gaya, there are cultural centers like Nalanda and Rajgir. Despite this, there is no good international airport. Are we not all responsible for this? Shouldn’t we give them this? Someone asked, ‘Can you only see Bihar?’ Is Bihar not a part of India? There is no Bihar in East? The workers of Bihar are found all over the country, should they not get work in their own villages? It was also necessary for tourism.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has welcomed the budget announcements for Bihar. He said in a statement, “The budget is progressive and future -oriented. It will help in accelerating the development of the state. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.”
