How are elections in Germany?
Germany’s electoral system is a mixture of direct and proportional representation. Voters cast two votes – the first opinion selects the representative of the local constituency, and the second supports a political party, which determines the proportional distribution of seats in Bundestag. Bundestag has 630 seats under the country’s election law, of which 299 are directly elected and the remaining 331 are proportional to the party’s votes.
