Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal
New Delhi:
The Home Ministry has given permission to prosecute former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in the liquor scam case. ED has got this permission in the case of money laundering. In November last year, the Supreme Court had given an order and said that to prosecute a public servant, permission will have to be taken from the authority. ED had described Arvind Kejriwal as the mastermind and kingpin in the liquor scam.
ED has presented the chargesheet
ED has also presented charge sheet against Arvind Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal had gone to Delhi High Court against the charge sheet and had said that taking cognizance of the charge sheet should be stayed. The ED had arrested the then Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 and filed a charge sheet against him, the party and others in May.
Called Kejriwal the mastermind
In its charge sheet in the liquor scam case, ED has named Arvind Kejriwal as well as Manish Sisodia as the masterminds of the scam. The investigating agency says that Kejriwal and Sisodia made changes in the Excise Policy 2021-22 to help the South lobby, in which a bribe of Rs 100 crore was allegedly given. If sources are to be believed, out of the bribe of Rs 100 crore given, Aam Aadmi Party had used Rs 45 crore in the Goa Assembly election campaign.
Big blow to AAP before elections
This is a big blow to the Aam Aadmi Party before the Delhi Assembly elections. There are elections in the capital on 5th February. For this, preparations of all the parties are going on in full swing. Aam Aadmi Party has also released the list of all its candidates for Delhi Assembly elections. In such a situation, problems for Kejriwal and AAP may increase. In this matter, AAP has been saying that nothing has been found yet in the liquor policy matter.
