
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday transferred Rs 1,200 crore as the first installment for 3 lakh families under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Rural (PM Awas Yojana Gramin), including 35,114 beneficiaries in Samastipur district. Along with this, 4,509 people were also handed over the keys of houses built under the PM Awas Yojana.
In fact, on Wednesday, the first installment of the PM Awas Yojana amount was transferred to 35,114 people of different blocks of Samastipur district online. This amount was given to the beneficiaries during a function organized in the auditorium of Samastipur Collectorate premises.

How many houses are targeted under PM Housing Scheme?
District Deputy Development Commissioner Sandeep Shekhar Priyadarshi told IANS that in the financial year 2024-25 under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Samastipur district has achieved a target of building 44,477 houses by Rural Development Department Patna, in which a total of 38,286 houses have been approved in two phases so far. In the second phase, 26,206 houses were approved.
He said, “Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has paid 94.680 crores to 23,517 beneficiaries in the district today, in which a total of 35,114 beneficiaries have been paid the first installment in this financial year. It is the highest in the state and 38 districts. Apart from this, some beneficiaries have also been given keys.”

The beneficiary Kumari Anju told that her husband runs a cart and did not have a house before. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, he received the amount, the amount he has built the house. Now they have been given the key. At the same time, the beneficiary Vibha Devi said that her husband works as a laborer and she did not even have money to build a house. He has got roof under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Now the whole family will spend his happy life in this house.

He instructed the officials to implement the schemes of the central and state government properly, so that the beneficiaries get immediate benefits. Earlier on 7 October 2024, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had paid a lump sum of the first installment to 1.05 lakh beneficiaries. It cost Rs 420 crore. In this program, the three lakh beneficiaries who have been paid a lump sum of the first installment at the rate of 40 thousand rupees, will be paid as second and third installment in the next hundred days at the rate of 80 thousand rupees.
