Parliament Session PM Modi and Opposition: Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the Mahakumbh organizing in Prayagraj as a milestone and said that it reflects the spirit of a awakened nation. He said during his statement in the Lok Sabha that all differences were erased during Mahakumbh and shows that the spirit of unity is deeply created within us. Ekta in diversity is the specialty of India, which was experienced during the recently concluded Mahakumbh. When the whole world is going through a challenging time, the grand performance of this unity is the biggest strength of the country.
What did PM Modi say?
Highlighting the importance of water conservation, the Prime Minister said that there are many rivers in India and some of them are in danger. Taking inspiration from Mahakumbh, he emphasized the need for river festival. The Prime Minister said that it will teach the importance of water conservation to the new generation. The Prime Minister said that this historic event has removed the doubts in the minds of some people about India’s ability. He appreciated the people who contributed to the success of Mahakumbh in Prayagraj and said that this historic event has given great inspiration to the countrymen, because it was led by the people themselves. Referring to the life prestige of Lord Rama at the Ram temple in Ayodhya last year, PM Modi said that it shows how the country is preparing himself for the next thousand years and this thinking has become stronger during the Mahakumbh.
Why opposition in Parliament provoked
After Prime Minister Modi’s statement, the opposition members made a noise in the House and asked under which rule the Prime Minister was allowed to speak. Chairman Om Birla clarified that there is a provision in the rules that the Prime Minister and the Union Minister can make a statement in the House. When the commotion continued, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings of the House till 1 pm. After this, when the Lok Sabha proceedings started, opposition MPs created a ruckus during the reply of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. Amidst the continuous uproar, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were postponed for the day.
What did Rahul Gandhi say?
During a conversation with reporters in Parliament, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi targeted the Prime Minister’s statement. He said that during the Mahakumbh, the PM did not say a word nor paid any tribute about the people who died. Rahul said that the PM should have also spoken about how many youths got jobs during Mahakubh. He also questioned the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha not being spoken and said that is this new India?
