Well-known filmmaker, painter and journalist Pritish Nandy has passed away due to a heart attack in Mumbai. He was 73 years old. There has been a wave of mourning in the film and media industry due to his demise. This sad news was shared by his close friend and Bollywood actor Anupam Kher on social media. Anupam Kher is deeply saddened by this news and remembered Pritish by calling him “yaaron ka yaar”. He also posted some pictures of Pritish on social media.
Pritish Nandi was born in Bihar
Pritish was born in Bhagalpur, Bihar. He was a multidimensional talent. He had a deep interest in art and writing. He was also a skilled poet and an excellent painter. He will always be remembered for his many big and popular films in Bollywood. Pritish Nandi was also Rajya Sabha MP
Pritish Nandy’s personality was not just that of a film maker. He was also a Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra on Shiv Sena ticket. Apart from this, when the country was completing 50 years of the freedom struggle, he was also a part of many important committees formed to celebrate the completion of 50 years. These included the parliamentary committees on National Committee, Defence, Communications, and Foreign Affairs. He also chaired the Expert Committee set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the upgradation of the International Film Festival of India.

Established ‘Pritish Nandy Communications’ in 1993
In 1993, Pritish Nandy founded his own company “Pritish Nandy Communications” and remains its non-executive chairman and creative mentor. His company’s first program was “The Pritish Nandy Show”, which aired on India’s public channel Doordarshan. It was the first signature chat show to be broadcast on Indian television. Subsequently, “Fiscal Fitness: The Pritish Nandy Business Show” aired on Zee TV, which was India’s first weekly business show.
Pritish Nandy’s film career was full of many excellent films, for which he was awarded many awards. His company laid the foundation of the multiplex film genre in India.
