New Delhi:
Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee’s ‘Hum Tum’ is considered one of the best films of his career. This romantic comedy still remains a Cult classic. Till date, its songs are very much liked by the audience. The film was released in 2005 and in it, Abhishek Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor did a cameo. Rishi Kapoor, who played Saif’s father in the film, was initially hesitant to do this role due to the low scene. Recently, in an interview to Alina Deserts, director Kunal Kohli remembered how she had cast Rishi Kapoor in Hum Tum. He refused for the film. When I asked why, he said, ‘There is guest appearance, I don’t do, what is it? Is nonsense. Seven, you gave me scenes to me, don’t do me. ”
Kohli said, however, Kunal somehow managed to convince Rishi Kapoor that at least listen and decide. “Then he said, ‘Well,’ give me some more scenes. Why do I make guest appearance? ‘ I said, ‘Sir, I can take you in more scenes, you just keep roaming around. Here, whenever you come, there is an effect. I said, ‘Every scene of yours… is effective, every dialogue affects. I said that I can add ten more scenes, but they will not be impressive. Then he said, ‘Yes, let’s do it.’
During this conversation, Kunal Kohli revealed that Yash Chopra had given him and Aditya Chopra about Rs 7-8 crore to make us you. Kunal’s previous film would make me friendship, you will be made on a big budget and Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor worked in it. The film could not perform well at the box office. Therefore, the budget for his second film was very low. However, we proved to be a big hit. Made for Rs 8.5 crore, Hum Tum earned more than Rs 42 crore at the box office. This film became a milestone in Saif Ali Khan’s career because it was his first film as a solo hero.
