The rupee rose 13 paise to 86.98 per dollar on early trade on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex gained 716.50 points to 77,903.24 points in the domestic stock market, while the Nifty rose 199.15 to 23,560.20 points. According to the stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were selling on Monday and purely sold shares worth Rs 3,958.37 crore.
