Russia-Akraine War: The Russian Ministry of Defense and Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelanski said that Russia and Ukraine completed the exchange of 1000-1000 prisoners on Sunday, which is the biggest exchange ever since the war started three years ago. The three-day exchange began on Friday and included most of the war captives and 120–120 citizens. On Sunday, both sides swap 303 prisoners.

Zelansky wrote on the Telegram app, “Today, warriors of our armed forces, national guards, state border guard service and state special transport service are returning home.”
The exchange was the only solid step towards peace that emerged from the first direct talks between the warfare parties on 16 May when they failed to agree on the ceasefire.
Ukraine, the United States and other Western countries have called for stopping the fight for 30 days without any precondition to allow peace talks.
Hundreds of thousand soldiers were believed to be injured or killed in Europe’s most deadly struggle after World War II, although both sides have not published the correct number of casualties. Thousands of Ukrainian citizens have also been killed by the Russian Army due to the siege and bombing of Ukrainian cities.
What did Russia say
On Friday, Russian External Affairs Minister Sergei Lavarov said that once the exchange is completed, Moscow would be ready to offer a draft proposal for Ukraine for a long-term peace agreement.
Officials said the Russian army attacked Ukrainian cities including the capital Kiev with 367 drones and missiles in the night, which was the biggest air attack ever in the war, killing at least 12 people and injured dozens.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense said that its air defense units stopped or destroyed 95 Ukrainian drones over a period of four hours. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobanin said that 12 Ukrainian drones were stopped while going towards the capital.
