Ukrainian President Vladimir Jailonsky claimed that the Russian drone targeted the Radiation Shelter located above the damaged reactor of Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Jailonsci said that in the night attack, the roof of the fourth power unit that was destroyed in the plant caught fire, which was extinguished.

The Ukrainian President said that the level of radiation in the plant had not increased till Friday morning. Jelski posted a footage on X which shows a loss of an explosion and a huge shield made of concrete and steel.

This shield is designed to prevent the leakage of radioactive material. It is 275 meters (900 ft) wide and 108 meters (354 ft) high and its construction costs $ 1.6 billion.

According to media reports, the United Nations’ Atomic Monitoring Institute, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that fire security personnel and vehicles reacted within a few minutes of the night’s explosion.

The agency said that no casualties were reported. The IAEA, which monitors nuclear security worldwide, said that the level of radiation inside and outside Chernobyl remains normal and stable.
