Senior space scientist V. Narayanan has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The current president is S. Will take charge in place of Somnath on January 14.
S. Somnath took charge as ISRO Chairman on 14 January 2022. Now he will retire after his two-year tenure. During his tenure, ISRO successfully executed many important missions.
According to an official order issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on 7 January 2025, V. Narayanan has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). He will hold this post for a period of two years. Presently Narayanan is working as the Director of Liquid Propulsion System Center (LPSC) located at Valiyamala.
In Narayanan’s illustrious career, his contribution to major ISRO projects like the Aditya spacecraft and the GSLV MK-III mission has been extremely important. His expertise and achievements have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Sree Award from the Astronautical Society of India and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Kharagpur.
