Salman Khan’s film Alexander is in discussion these days. Apart from Salman Khan, the film stars Rashmika Mandana, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi and Satyaraj in the lead roles. A mixed response has been received from the film critics regarding Alexander. Salman Khan’s film is also earning well at the box office. Recently, there were reports that due to being less spectators, Alexander’s shows are being canceled in many theaters. But it is not so at all. In many places Alexander’s shows have been extended rather than canceled.
Some cinema halls, such as Mumbai’s G7 multiplexes (including Getty-Galaxy), have added more shows in view of its strong demand, but Alexander has not received expectation as expected in cities like Surat, Ahmedabad, Bhopal and Indore. Many cinema halls have changed Alexander to other films due to less viewers. Talking to the Bollywood Hungama, a trade analyst said, “No shows in Mumbai were seen to be canceled due to lack of audience. No shows were canceled in the first two days, but in cities like Surat, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore, where Eid’s effect was less, it happened.”
Kiritbhai T. Waghasia, owner of Surat’s “The Friday Cinema” multiplex, said that not a single ticket was sold for the show of 9:00 and 10:00 am on Monday. “I was hoping that on the occasion of Eid, the film would get more viewers, but we were able to sell more tickets on the day of release on Sunday. It seems that bad figures came out on Monday due to the rapid spread of Word of Mouth,” he said.
The report also stated that while the shows were canceled or replaced in other cities, the prestigious Getty-Galaxy Multiplex of Mumbai is proving to be an exception in this case. Since March 30, “Alexander” has been doing well in the two biggest halls – 991 seat Getty and 818 seat Galaxy. The number of shows has been increased from 31 March.
