Smartphone exports crossing Rs 2 lakh crore in financial year 2024-25, iPhone dominated

Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Tuesday that the export of mobile phones in the country in the financial year 2024-25 was more than Rs 2 lakh crore, of which iPhone alone contributes Rs 1.5 lakh crore. Vaishnav said that smartphone exports have increased by 54 percent in the last financial year as compared to FY 2023-24.

Vaishnav said, “In FY 2024-25, smartphone exports crossed two lakh crore rupees. The smartphone has now become one of the major products to be exported from India. During this period, about Rs 1.5 lakh crore iPhone was also exported.”

Legendary American company Apple has started the production of its popular iPhone in India a few years ago. India has emerged as a major center of iPhone manufacturing.

The Union Minister said that in the last 10 years, there has been more than five times the increase in electronics manufacturing in the country and more than six times the export.

He said that the government is issuing a draft notification for the recently announced ‘non-semiconductor electronic equipment scheme’, which will be open for consultation for about two weeks.
