Stock Market Today: Stock market up, Sensex rises 200 points, Nifty above 24,000

On the first trading day of the week, the major indices of the Indian stock market, BSE Sensex and Nifty 50, started trading with gains. The effect of strength in the American market was also visible on the Indian markets. Today i.e. on January 6, the Sensex opened with a rise of 58 points at the level of 79,281. Nifty also opened with a gain of 40 points at the level of 24,045.

At the same time, in early trade, BSE’s 30-share Sensex rose by 296.94 points to reach 79,520.05, while NSE Nifty was trading at 24,089.95 with a rise of 85.2 points.

Around 9:30 am, the Sensex was trading at 79,457.37 points with a gain of 234.26 points (0.30%) while the Nifty 50 was trading at 24,065.70 points with a gain of 60.95 points (0.25%). .

However, later both the indices went into the red and were seen trading with a decline. Sensex fell 68.56 points to 79,159.58, while Nifty was trading at 23,956.55, down 48.20 points.

Bajaj Finance, Titan, Infosys, HCL Tech, Tata Consultancy Services and Tech Mahindra were the biggest gainers among the stocks listed on BSE. Whereas, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Steel, Power Grid and Asian Paints were among the top losers.

Last week was a great week for the Indian stock market. Nifty closed at 24,004, up 191 points or 0.80 percent, and Sensex closed at 79,223, up 524 points or 0.67 percent. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were sellers on Friday and sold shares worth a net Rs 4,227.25 crore.
