Vimi was one of the famous Bollywood actresses who worked with big stars like Sunil Dutt to Shashi Kapoor, Raj Kumar in their time.
Vimi was born in 1943 in Jalandhar, Punjab. At a young age, Vimi got married to Shiv Agarwal, son of the famous industrialist of that era. Vimi’s parents were against their marriage. Shiva and Vimi had two children. Despite being the mother of two children, she is also very interesting to ask her to get a break in Bollywood. Actually Vimi had reached a party with her husband in Calcutta. At the same time, Vimi met music director Ravi. Seeing Vimi’s beauty and glamor, Ravi asked, why don’t you work in films? Ravi asked Vimi and her husband Shiva to come to Mumbai and met BR Chopra there. Then BR Chopra offered him the first film Hamraj. Although Vimi’s in -laws did not want Vimi to work in films, but her husband supported. Unhappy, Shiva’s parents evicted him from the property and expelled him from the house. Now the responsibility of running the house was on Vimi.
Vimi became an overnight star from the film Hamraj, released in 1967. After this film, there was a line of directors and producers to sign Vimi. BR Chopra signed a contract of three films with Vimi. Her husband was the secretary of Shiva Vimi. Vimi received offers from many films, but due to the contract of BR Chopra, she was unable to sign films. Then Vimi and her husband started harassing BR Chopra to end the contract. Later, the graph of Vimi’s career started falling. She appeared in a total of 10 films, most of which were flops. After this, producers also started pulling their hands back. Later Vimi opened Vimi Textile Company in Calcutta, but it also drowned in debt. Now Vimi was in a lot of crisis.
When the money was over, she started living a common life. At the same time, husband Shiva got addicted to alcohol and started assaulting Vimi. Shiva used to put pressure on Vimi to do small rolls. Then she met the film producer Jolly and both came closer. But the situation did not improve even then she started living alone and alcohol addiction became the cause of her death. At the age of just 34, Vimi’s liver was completely damaged. Vimi did not have money for treatment. Vimi died on 22 August 1977 at the General Ward of Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. Vimi’s deadbody was taken to the crematorium by keeping the cart. Vimi’s close friend Krishna described Vimi’s death as a pen reliever for him.
