Career started with Punjabi films
Mumtaz Shanti was born on 28 May 1929 in a Punjabi-Muslim family in Gujarat district of Punjab province of British India. Mumtaz Shanti lost her mother in childhood. Mumtaz peace was raised by his aunt. At the same time, seeing the talent inside Mumtaz Shanti, his uncle encouraged him to go to the cinema. In the year 1937, Mumtaz Shanti stepped into the film industry. Mumtaz Shanti’s acting started with Punjabi films. Mumtaz Shanti’s film ‘Sohni Kumaran’ received a lot of applause. After this Mumtaz Shanti was seen in the Punjabi film ‘Mangati’ (1942). ‘Mangati’ was a diamond-jubbali hit film. Since this film, Mumtaz Shanti became a superstar of the Punjabi film industry.

Step in Bollywood
Mumtaz Shanti made her Bollywood debut with the film Basant (1942) after shedding in the Punjabi film industry. The film ‘Basant’ Jubilee was a hit. Madhubala was also seen in the film ‘Basant’. In this film, Madhubala played the role of Mumtaz Shanti’s daughter. ‘Basant’ remained in theaters for 76 weeks. ‘Basant’ was included in the list of the highest grossing 50 films till 2021. This record of ‘Basant’ was maintained for 80 years. In the year 1943, Mumtaz Shanti became the film ‘Kismet’ with Ashok Kumar, which made the first 1 crore rupees of Hindi cinema. ‘Kismat’ created big history of earning at the box office. The film was a hit for three years. Talking about the personal life of Mumtaz Shanti, he married the director’s sahib and went to Pakistan after partition. At the same time, her husband died in 1977 and in 1994 she died.
