He had a huge fan following and fans were desperate to see a glimpse of him.

At that time Vimi was fond of expensive cars. She often used to go to shoots in latest model cars. She was considered a rich actress of that era. When the fairy-like looking actress Vemi entered Bollywood, she was already married and had two children. Even after this she became a star overnight. At that time, the career of married actresses in Bollywood was considered to be over, but Vimi set an example. Vimi was one of those famous Bollywood actresses, who in her time worked with big stars like Sunil Dutt, Shashi Kapoor, Raj Kumar.

Vimi was born in 1943 in Jalandhar, Punjab. At an early age, Vimi got married to Shiv Aggarwal, son of a famous industrialist of that time. Vimi’s parents were against her marriage. Shiv and Vimi had two children. The story of her getting a break in Bollywood despite being the mother of two children is also quite interesting. Actually Vimi had come to a party in Calcutta with her husband. It was there that Vimi met music director Ravi. Seeing Vimi’s beauty and glamor Ravi asked, why don’t you work in films? Then Vimi said, I am the mother of two children, who will give me work in films?

Ravi asked Vimi and her husband Shiv to come to Mumbai and made them meet BR Chopra there. Then BR Chopra offered him his first film Humraj. Although Vimi’s in-laws did not want Vimi to work in films, but her husband supported her. Angered, Shiva’s parents evicted him from the property and threw him out of the house. Now the entire responsibility of running the house was on Vimi.

Vimi became an overnight star with the film Humraaj, released in 1967. Rajkumar, Sunil Dutt and Mumtaz were in lead roles in the film, but people’s attention got stuck on Vimi’s beauty. After this film, directors and producers lined up to sign Vimi. BR Chopra had signed a contract for 3 films with Vimi. Her husband Shiv was the secretary of VMI. Vimi received offers from many films, but due to BR Chopra’s contract, she was not able to sign the films. Then Vimi and her husband started harassing BR Chopra to terminate the contract. Later Vimi’s career graph started falling. She appeared in a total of 10 films, most of which were flops. After this the producers also started pulling back. Later Vimi opened Vimi Textile Company in Calcutta, but it also got drowned in debt. Now Vimi was in a lot of trouble.

Vimi used to live in a bungalow in Juhu, but when she ran out of money, she started living a normal life. Whereas husband Shiv got drunk and started beating Vimi. Shiv used to put pressure on Vimi to do small roles. Then she met film producer Jolly and both became close. She started living with Jolly. Jolly got Vimi addicted to alcohol. According to reports, Jolly started sending Vimi to other producers in the name of getting work. Vimi’s close friend Krishna had also confirmed that she had started going to different hotels to meet producers and had become a part of prostitution.

Later she started living alone and alcohol addiction became the cause of her death. At the age of just 34, Vimi’s liver was completely damaged. Vimi had no money for treatment. Vimi died on 22 August 1977 in the general ward of Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai. No friends or family even came to see him. The circumstances were such that not even four shoulders were available to transport Vimi from the hospital to the crematorium. Vimi’s dead body was placed on a cart and taken to the cremation ground. Vimi’s close friend Krishna described Vimi’s death as a pain reliever for her. He said that death was better than the painful conditions in which Vimi was living.
