Actor -turned -politician Kamal Haasan on Friday addressed party workers in Chennai on the 8th Foundation Day of his party Makkal Nidhi Mayyam (MNM) and emphasized the importance of linguistic pride. On the occasion of Foundation Day, Haasan also hoisted the party flag at MNM Headquarters in Chennai.

Referring to the long -standing spirit for linguistic autonomy, Haasan said, “The people of Tamil have lost their lives for their language. Do not play with those things. Tamil residents, even children know even children. What language they need is to choose which language they need. “

He said, “I think I lost, because I came very late in politics. If I had come 20 years ago, my speech and situation would have been different.”
Addressing his party workers, Hassan indicated the upcoming political ambitions of MNM, saying that the voice of the party will be heard in Parliament this year, and it will be felt in the state assembly next year. He urged his supporters to start preparations for the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, emphasizing the importance of his active participation.
He said, “Today we are 8 years old, as if a child is growing up. This year our voice will be heard in Parliament and next year your voice will be seen in the assembly.”
