We all have seen the film Baghban and many people might have become emotional after watching this film, but in real life a case like Baghban has come to light. Actually, Srinath Khandelwal, a resident of Varanasi, breathed his last in an old age home and his family did not even come to support him.
Let us tell you that Shrinath Khandelwal has written more than a hundred books and he was the owner of property worth eighty crores. He died anonymously in an old age home at the age of 80. Perhaps no one had thought that the end of this elderly writer living in an old age home in Varanasi would be like this. Actually, Shrinath Khandelwal, a resident of Kashi, has a complete family. He has two sons and a daughter. His son is a businessman and his daughter is a lawyer in the Supreme Court. Apart from being a litterateur, he was also a spiritual man.

He had written many books on Shiva Purana and Tantra Vidya. His days and nights were spent in literature and spirituality. Taking advantage of this, his son and daughter took away all his property and left him helpless in his sick state. After this, social worker Aman came forward and got him kept in Kashi Leprosy Old Age Home and he stayed in this old age home for about ten months where he was given free service and he was very happy but not even once did any family member come there to inquire about his condition.

After the death of the owner of eighty crores and a spiritual writer honored with Padma Shri in 2023, he also yearned for the four shoulders of his children. When his family members were informed about his death, they flatly refused to come. In the end, social worker Aman collected donations and performed his last rites.

Varanasi-based litterateur Shrinath Khandelwal died on Saturday morning. At the age of 80, he breathed his last in a private hospital. Srinath Khandelwal had written and translated about 400 books and was the owner of assets worth Rs 80 crores. Due to the plight of his children, he was living in the Kashi Kusht Seva Sangh Old Age Ashram in Sarnath for a long time. Even after his death, none of his children came to offer funeral pyre.

Srinath Khandelwal’s life was once glorious. Srinath Khandelwal enriched Indian literature with his writings. He has translated priceless texts like Shiv Purana and Matsya Purana into Hindi. The 3000-page Matsya Purana written by him is still popular among scholars. He not only worked on religious texts, but also wrote many books on modern literature and history. His books are available in languages like Hindi, Sanskrit, Assamese and Bengali. In the last days of his life, he wanted to complete the translation of Narasimha Purana, but his last wish remained unfulfilled. Not only this, his son and daughter, for whom he devoted his life, are said to have thrown him out of the house, after which he was living in the old age home of Kashi Leprosy Seva Sangh. His son is a businessman and daughter Supreme Advocate in the court, but he turned his back on his father.
