Christina matthens received a very special award: Former Australian female wicketkeeper and cricket administrator Christina Mathews was included in the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Thursday (30 January 2025). 65 -year -old Christina became the 65th player to join Australia’s highest Test female cricketer, 65 -year -old Australian Cricket Hall of Fame. Christina, who holds the record of the most out of the wicketkeeper in women’s Test cricket, thanked the hall of fame honors. The honor was announced before the most popular Ashes Test of women in MCG.
Christina said, ‘This is incredible. As a young girl, you are older only by looking at male cricketers, and they become your hero. Then in a certain stage, you start realizing that there is also an Australian women’s team. Therefore, the work done by the Hall of Fame in the last 10 years, most of the women have been included is fantastic.
He further said, ‘To be honest, I never thought that I would get this identity. If this would have included administration, because most people know me for this, then it would have happened. But when I look back now, you underestimate the work you do, and therefore it feels great when recognized.
After giving coaching to the current Australian captain Alyssa Heli during her teenage age, Mathews has played an important role in developing future stars. She also praised the current Australian women’s cricket team, which is on the verge of winning the Ashes series against England, which has upheld the legacy of the great players of the past and set new standards.
