However, this is not the first incident when an Indian woman has successfully returned to India, crossing the odd conditions. About 22 years before Uzma, Sushmita Banerjee managed to return to India in the third attempt, breaking the trap of Taliban torture.
Brahmin Sushmita Banerjee, who hails from Kolkata, fell in love with Afghan Manilender Jambaz Khan during the theater rehearsal. It is a matter of the year 1986 when Sushmita gave her heart to Jambaz Khan in a few meetings. Both got married on 2 March 1988 under the Special Marriage Act. After marriage, Sushmita started living with her husband in Paktika province of Afghanistan, but within three years the brave came back to India without telling anything to his wife due to her moneyless work.
Husband’s family tortured
When Sushmita reached her husband’s house in Afghanistan, it was found that she is the second wife of Jambaz Khan. Sushmita was married to a woman named Jambaz Gulgutty about 10 years ago. After the husband left, Sushmita’s mother-in-law and three brothers-in-law tortured her at both physical and mental levels, which made her mind to return to her country. However, this was not so easy. After two unsuccessful efforts, Sushmita got success in the third time.
Sushmita escaped like this
With the help of a well -wisher of the village, Sushmita arranged for Pakistan to reach Islamabad. On reaching Islamabad, he knocked on the door of the Indian High Commission, but he suffered a major setback as the commission handed it back to the Taliban. Sushmita did not lose courage and made a plan to escape from there once again. She wrote in her book that she kept running all night for the second time, but she was arrested. The Taliban issued a fatwa against Sushmita and was about to die on 22 July 1995.
Two Taliban killed from AK-47
The head of the village helped Sushmita to escape from the Taliban for the third time. Sushmita wrote in her memoir that while leaving there for the third time, she raised AK-47 and killed three Taliban. After this, uncle helped Sushmita to reach Kabul with a jeep. On reaching Kabul, Sushmita was arrested by the Taliban. The 15 -member group continued to interrogate Sushmita all night. She managed to convince the Taliban being Indian and to convince the right to return to the country with this right. The next morning she was taken to the Indian embassy, after which she reached the safe Delhi Airport and then reached her home town Kolkata.
