The Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which came under the scrutiny of the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on charges of discrimination against American workers, said that such allegations are baseless and misleading. According to Bloomberg that these allegations were made by the former employees, most of which were of non-south Asian origin and who were over 40 years of age. Complaints after 2023 claimed that these employees were targeted during the layoffs, while Indian colleagues, some of whom were on H1-B visas, were spared.
In a statement issued by TCS, it has been said that they give equal opportunities to all. The company said that allegations of discrimination are “baseless and misleading”. TCS further stated that we have a strong track record of being equal opportunity employers in the US, which adopts the highest level of honesty and values in our operation.
According to The Guardian reports, similar claims were also made before an Employment Tribunal in Britain, where three former TCS employees said that they were discriminated against on age and nationality.
Earlier this week, TCS reportedly delayed increases in India, as the management was not clear on the management increment cycle amid global uncertainty caused by American tariffs. In the fourth quarter for TCS, the atrition rate increased from 13 percent to 13.3 percent in the previous quarter.
