Trump’s lock on the $ 2.2 billion funds of Harvard University, why is the President’s throat dry up with the voice of the students?

President Donald Trump has got an eye on the prestigious Harvard University of America. Federal funds of $ 2.2 billion to this university have been banned. Like the Trump administration, Harvard University was caught with several demands, which the university has refused to accept. The White House had said that the purpose of sending such a list was to end the anti -Jewish spirit at the university campus.

The list reached the Harvard University on 3 April by the Trump administration, in which demands were made from the university such as their rule, hiring methods and change in admission processes. In this, the officers were ordered to close the diversity offices and cooperate with the immigration officers for screening of international students.

Harvard refuses, Trump administration stopped funding

In a letter to the students and teachers, Harvard President Alan Garber vowed not to listen to the government. He insisted that the school “will not compromise its freedom or its constitutional rights.” The answer was given by Trump’s Joint Task Force to combat the anti -Jewish spirit. It announced a ban of $ 2.2 billion in multi-win grants received by the university, as well as a ban of $ 60 million in government contracts.

The statement said, “Today’s statement of Harvard firmly shows the mindset of the worrying entitlement spread in our country’s prestigious universities and colleges- they think that they will get Federal Investment (money from the government) but they will not have any responsibility to maintain civil rights laws.”

It further states, “In recent years, the obstruction in reading and reading from the campus is unacceptable. The oppression of Jewish students is unbearable. Now the time has come that these prestigious universities take this problem seriously and if they want to continue to get the support of taxpayers then they are committed to meaningful changes.”

Significantly, last year, the university campus across the country was shaken by the students’ protests against the Israeli war in Gaza. Due to this, there were violent clashes with police and supporting protesters in the campus. Trump and other Republic leaders have accused the students who talked about civil rights of supporting Hamas called a terrorist group by the US. Hamas had launched a deadly attack against Israel on October 7, 2023, after which the war began.

Trump’s close watch on universities and colleges

Trump’s education department announced in March that it has initiated an investigation into 60 colleges and universities for alleged “anti -Jewish oppression and discrimination”. Now the letter of Harvard President Garber came when the Trump administration started a review of $ 9 billion of federal funding to be given to Harvard and affiliated institutions.
Subsequently, on Friday, the government sent a more detailed list to Harvard demanding the “audit” of students and teachers’ views, which the university made public.

The special thing is that Harvard’s stand is completely opposite from Columbia University. Columbia University, who became the center of last year’s pro -Palestine protest, has accepted to bow down to the government. The White House had earlier refused to give $ 400 million from Columbia University to Federal Funding. The university was accused of fighting the anti -Jewish spirit on its campus and failing to protect the Jewish students. Shortly after, Columbia University accepted many demands of the Trump government, which has been criticized by many students and teachers.

In addition to stopping funding, immigration officials have targeted two organizers of pro -Palestine Protest at Columbia University: Mahmud Khalil, which the government wants to deport, and Mohsin Mahdavi, who was arrested on Monday when he was attending an interview for American citizenship.
