Ukraine Russia Ceasefire Talks: American and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia held talks with Russia to end the war with Russia on Sunday night. Ukraine has described this dialogue as meaningful. US President Donald Trump is insisting on ending the ongoing war for three years and has hoped that the talks in Riyadh will end the war. Even in the midst of this peace talks, Russia and Ukraine are unruly attacking each other. When the meeting between Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustom Umrov ended late on Sunday night, he said on social media, “The discussion was useful and meaningful. We discussed the major points including energy.” He said that Ukraine is working to make his goal of “justified and permanent peace”.

Umrov had earlier said that proposals to protect energy facilities and important infrastructure will be on the agenda. In his address in the evening, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelansky said that “Russia is the only country that is pulling this war”. He said, “Whatever we talk with our partners, we have to pressurize Putin to give the real order to stop the attack: who has launched this war, it will have to end it.”

What did America and Russia say

Negotiations between the United States and Russia are set on Monday. Russian government media said that the delegation of Moscow has reached Riyadh on Sunday. Trump’s envoy Steve Witchoff hoped that any agreement would pave the way for the “complete” ceasefire. He told Fox News, “I think you will see some real progress in Saudi Arabia on Monday.” However, Kremlin underestimated the hopes of quick solution on Sunday and said that the conversation has just started. Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov told Russian State TV, “We are at the beginning of this path.” He said that there are many questions on how the possible ceasefire can be implemented. Russian President Vladimir Putin has rejected the joint US-Ukrainian call for a complete and immediate 30-day break, proposed to stop attacks on energy facilities instead. In an interview published on social media, Peskov said, “There are difficult talks ahead.”

Black Sea

Peskov said that in their talks with the United States, the “main” focus would be on the possible restoration of the Black Sea grain deal of 2022, which ensures safe navigation for Ukrainian agricultural exports through the Black Sea. Peskov said, “On Monday, we intend to discuss President Putin’s agreement to resume the so-called Black Sea initiative, and our dialogues will be ready to discuss the nuances around this problem.”

Moscow, in 2023, pulled out the deal with Turkey and the United Nations arbitrariness, accusing West to fail to fulfill its commitments to reduce the restrictions on their exports of Russia’s agricultural products and fertilizers. A senior Ukrainian official had said that Kiev would propose a comprehensive ceasefire, covering the attacks on energy facilities, infrastructure and naval attacks. Both sides carried out new drone attacks on the eve of the talks. Ukrainian officials said three civilians were killed in Kiev in the Russian drone attack, including a five -year -old girl and her father.
