Uniform Civil Code law will soon be implemented in Uttarakhand. Earlier, in the cabinet meeting in Uttarakhand, the rules for Uniform Civil Code were unanimously approved. After this, according to the information, Uniform Civil Code law will be implemented in the state on January 26. For a long time, discussions were in full swing regarding the Uniform Civil Code law in Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had announced in the 2022 elections that after the formation of the government, first of all the proposal of Uniform Civil Code will be brought in the cabinet meeting and it will be implemented in the state.
High Power Committee had taken suggestions from the people
After this, the proposal of Uniform Civil Code was brought in the cabinet meeting and after that a high power committee was formed. This committee took suggestions from more than 2.5 lakh people of the state. The committee prepared the complete draft and gave the draft of the Uniform Civil Code to the government. After this, the Uniform Civil Code Act was approved in the Assembly and after that the approval of the Governor and the President was also given.
The rules got approval from the entire committee today
Actually, the Uniform Civil Code became a law but its rules and regulations were not made because any law can be implemented only if there are rules for it. Therefore, a committee was formed which prepared the rules for the Uniform Civil Code. This committee submitted its report to the government and in the cabinet meeting on January 20, 2025, the rules for the Uniform Civil Code were approved by the entire committee. Now Uniform Civil Code will soon be implemented in the state.
Marriage, divorce, daughter’s rights in property etc. are included in UCC.
The Uniform Civil Code mainly covers many matters like marriage, divorce, rights of daughter in property, registration of living relationship, right of adoption, etc. In the UCC rules, both Aadhaar has to be linked with live-in registration. Apart from this, fees for registration was also discussed. Daughters can also be registered for equal status in property. This will also bring relaxation in divorce related matters.
Uttarakhand will be the first state to implement UCC
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that exercises were being done on this matter for a long time and we had resolved that a Uniform Civil Code law will be made in the state and it will be implemented. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Uttarakhand has become the first state after independence which is going to implement it. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that in the cabinet meeting, the rules of Uniform Civil Code have been approved by the entire committee and it will be implemented in the state soon in the month of January.
