Sundararaj said that in the slain Naxalites, there was a reward of Rs 25 lakh on Jangu Naveen, a member of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee of Maoists. At the same time, four Maoists Company Party Committee Members (CYPCM) Sangeeta (35), Bhumika (35), Somli (30) and Roshan alias Tipu (35) had a reward of Rs 10 lakh.

Basavaraju, who was known by the surnames of Gagna, BR Dada and Prakash, Krishna, Darapu Narasimha Reddy, joined the illegal movement in the 1970s. The top Maoist leader, a resident of Jiannapeta village in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, had a BTech degree from Engineering College, Warangal.
In 2018, Basavaraju took over as the general secretary of the banned organization CPI (Maoist) and replaced Muppala Laxman Rao alias Ganpati, who was 71 years old at that time. Ganapati resigned from his post due to his deteriorating health and age related problems.
The Inspector General of Police said that he was the founding member of the Central Committee of Maoists, members of the Polit Bureau and the head of the Central Military Commission of Maoists.
He said that Basavaraju was expert in military training, especially improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and explosives and attacks on security forces and police stations. He was involved in the 2004 Koraput (Odisha) armory robbery in which three people were killed. During this time, Naxalites looted one thousand advanced guns and one thousand other weapons from the arsenal, which cost around Rs 50 crore.
Sundararaj said that Basavaraju was involved in the 2005 Jehanabad Jail Break (Bihar) in which 389 prisoners including Maoists and notorious criminals fled. He was also involved in the 2010 massacre in Dantewada (Chhattisgarh) in which 76 CRPF personnel lost their lives.
He said that Basavaraju was accused of involvement in the murder of an MLA in Andhra Pradesh in 2018 in the 2013 Jhiram Valley attack (Bastar, Chhattisgarh) in which 27 people including senior Congress leaders were killed and in 2018. The Inspector General of Police said that the security forces have given a big blow to the Maoists by piling up the Basavaraju.
