In the second ODI, Sri Lanka had to face defeat by a huge margin of 113 runs. But as long as Mendis was present at the crease. There was always a hope that the Sri Lankan team could win this match. But as soon as Mendis was out, that hope was completely dashed.

Mendis has five centuries and four half-centuries in Test cricket and two half-centuries each in ODI and T20 respectively.
