Kkr players bats failed the gauge test ipl 2025: In the IPL 2025 match played in Mullanpur on Tuesday, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had a target of 112 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS). But during this match, a unique incident caught everyone’s attention, when three KKR players – Sunil Naren, Andre Russell and Enrich Nortje failed the validity of the bat bat. In fact, the International Cricket Council (ICC) implemented a bat gauge protocol in 2017 to examine the bat size. Under this rule, the on-field gauge test has now been regularized in the IPL so that the fairness of the game can be ensured.
What should be the size of the bat, what is the rule?
According to the ICC rules, the maximum width of the bat should not be 4.33 inches, depth 2.68 inches and the thickness of the edges should not exceed 1.61 inches. Apart from this, the inclination limit of the bat is 0.20 inches.

Three batsmen of KKR failed in Tests
Before the match, when Sunil Naren and Angkrish Raghuvanshi were getting ready for batting, the reserve umpire Syed Khalid examined his bats outside the field. During this time, Naren’s bat did not fit the gauge and failed, while Raghuvanshi’s bat passed.
Later, when Andre Russell came to bat in the 11th over, umpire Saidhar Kumar examined his bat, which failed in the gauge test. Similarly, the bat of Enrique Nortze was also examined in the 15th over and that too did not meet the standards. Because of this the game stopped for a while. For Norteze, the substitute player Rahmanullah Gurbaz brought a legitimate bat, but Russell was out on the next ball and the entire team was reduced to 95 runs in 15.1 overs.
Earlier, during the double header matches held in Jaipur and New Delhi on Sunday, the batsmen were also examined with gauge. Shimron Hetmyer was tested in the match between Rajasthan Royals and RCB, while the Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians match was investigated by Phil Salet and Hardik Pandya. In IPL 2025, now in the presence of the fourth umpire, team manager, we will examine all the bats in the dressing room before the match, because players usually carry many bat with them.
