There was a horrific firing of the terrorists and the army, which continued for a long time.
Srinagar:
A junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the army was martyred in an encounter with militants on the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor sector of Jammu, but the terrorists’ attempt to infiltrate the terrorists were thwarted. Officials gave this information on Saturday. According to officials, vigilant soldiers saw a group of heavy weapons armed with a drain near a drain in the advance forest area in the Kerry Bhattal area late on Friday night and challenged them, after which there was a fierce firing which continued for a long time.
Officials said that a JCO was injured in the encounter. He informed that the entire area has been siege and additional force has been deployed and the search operation was on till the final report. In the same area, two military personnel, including a captain, were killed and another was injured in an explosion by terrorists on 11 February.
This latest incident took place between India and Pakistan two days after the Brigade Commander level flag meeting to discuss issues related to border management in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. This was the second such meeting since February in an attempt to reduce stress after about a dozen incidents of firing from across the border and an IED attack. The Indian Army has lodged a strong protest in front of its counterparts for terrorist activities and ceasefire violations from across the border.
