Waqf bill gets approval from cabinet, government can bring in second phase of budget session: sources

According to JPC report, the cabinet has approved the Waqf Bill on the basis of most amendments. According to sources, most amendments have been approved in the meeting on 19 February. The bill has been approved on the basis of amendment. In such a situation, it is believed that the path of bringing the Waqf bill in the second part of the budget session has become completely clear. JPC in its report suggested several amendments on the Waqf Bill. However, opposition members have expressed their disagreement over this.

Let us know that the Waqf Amendment Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha in August 2024 and after that it was sent to JPC for Samjha. After this, JPC reported 655 pages on it.

Will the Waqf Board law change?

If a property is claimed in the old law, then the appeal can only be made in the tribunal. At the same time, the proposed change has been kept that now apart from the tribunal, an appeal can also be made in the court. The old law says that the decision of the tribunal will be the last and in the proposed change, it has been said that an appeal can also be made in the High Court. The old law says that if there is a mosque on the ground, then it is the property of Waqf, while the proposed change states that if donated, Waqf cannot claim it. The old law is that as a member of women and people of other religions will not get entry into it. At the same time, in the proposed change, it has been said that two non -Muslims will also be among the nominated members.
