Waqf Law Hearing in SC Live: What will be the attitude of Supreme Court on Waqf law? Hearing started in SC

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal argued in the Supreme Court on Wednesday that the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025 violates religious freedom in the management of their religious and charitable institutions of Muslims. Arguing before the bench of Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice KV Vishwanathan, Sibal mentioned the controversial provisions and listed the objections of Muslim organizations and other petitioners.

During the hearing, the Supreme Court proposed to stop some of the major provisions of the Act, including the power to non-deferred the assets declared by the courts and to include non-Muslims in the Central Waqf Councils and the Board. Sibal asked, “How can the government decide whether I am a Muslim or not and hence I am eligible to wake up?”
