A shocking case came to light in Hazratganj police station area of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted in front of the Central Bureau of Invitation Bureau (CBI) office was attacked by a person with a bow and arrow. Police said that the accused has been arrested. This entire incident was captured in CCTV installed there. It can be seen how Dinesh Murmu attacked the CBI officer by ambush.

The injured CBI officer investigated a case related to corruption in the railway in 1993, after which the accused was dismissed from service. Inspector (SHO) in charge of Hazratganj Kotwali, Vikram Singh said that Dinesh Murmu (65), a resident of Munger, Bihar outside the CBI office located on Naval Kishore Marg, attacked ASI Virendra Singh with a bow and arrow, due to which ASI suffered a chest injury.
Vikram Singh said that an FIR has been filed under the section of the Indian Code (BNS) related to the attempt to murder against the accused and has been arrested. He told that the accused has been questioned. The SHO said that the CBI officer (in 1993) had investigated a trial related to railway corruption, after which the accused Murmu, who was a ‘gangman’ in the railway, was dismissed from service. He said that the accused appears to be mental patient, the ASI of the CBI injured in the attack has been admitted to the hospital, his wound is about five centimeters deep.
According to police sources, the accused Murmu feels that his case is still going on in the CBI, so he used to go round at its office. Sources said that he reached Delhi in 2005 and attacked a policeman, after which he was sent to jail. In 2015, he was arrested even after a dispute with a GRP jawan at Jaunpur railway station.
