Smita Patil was one of the most spectacular actresses of her generation, but her sudden death in 1986 shocked her fans. By that time, Smita worked in films like Chilli Masala, Manthan, Bhumika, Earth and also appeared in films like Namak Halal and Shakti along with Amitabh Bachchan. Recently, Smita’s son Prateek Patil (Babbar) shared a funny anecdote with a set of Shakti, in which Amitabh Bachchan spoke to Smita with Lightman eating food on the ground.
In a conversation on Varinder Chawla’s YouTube channel, Prateek said that during the shooting of Shakti, including Dilip Kumar and Rakhi. Smita used to bring a big tiffin from her house. During lunch, she used to sit on the ground and eat with all the lights. Prateek said, “Such a big superstar Smita Patil, and she was eating food with a lightman on the ground.”
One day at the time of lunch, Amitabh Bachchan was passing by and saw Smita sitting on the ground. He called Smita aside and jokingly said, “Smita, you are spoiling our work. You sit down with everyone and eat food, then we look bad. If we do not do this, people will consider us bad. Now we will have to do so too. Now our image is getting spoiled because of you.” To this, Smita replied in a carefree manner, “You go to your van, I will eat like this.”
