New Delhi:
Madhuri Dixit, one of the most successful Bollywood stars of her generation, started her career with many flop films. In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, filmmaker Indra Kumar, who directed her in Dil Aur Betaa, talked about how Madhuri was once considered “wretched” in the late 80s and people did not cast her. Was advised to do. Indra Kumar remembered his time of casting Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit in Dil and talked about it.
He said, “When I signed Madhuri with Aamir Khan for Dil, everything was fine but when I signed her for Beta too, everyone said, ‘Pagal ho gaya hai tu, no film is going on. Is.’ Till that time, Madhuri had no hit in her account and then an interview came out in which it was said, ‘Madhuri is an unlucky girl in whatever film she is in. Yes, it flops. Still, I started working with Madhuri on both Dil and Beta, there was something in my heart that said, ‘There is something in this.'”
She further recalled how her “poor flop” image changed after the release of Tezaab. He said, “After this, I was also lucky. I started the film in October, Tezaab was released in December 1988 and Ram Lakhan was released in January 1989. The distributors’ impression of Madhuri as ‘poor flop’ got changed. My next schedule was after six months. By then she had become a superstar and there has been no change even today.
Madhuri Dixit started her acting career in 1984 with Rajshri Productions’ drama Abodh but the film failed at the box office. His next seven films Awara Baap, Swati, Manav Hatiya, Hifazat, Uttar Dakshin, Mohra and Khatron Ke Khiladi were also flops. In 1988 itself, he gave his first commercially successful film Dayavan. After this, Tezaab, Vardi and Ram Lakhan brought him popularity in Bollywood.
